Processes like water radiolysis are generated due to the ionizing radiation influencing body cells and producing damage to DNA molecules, which can be produced directly by radiation or indirectly by the great quantity of electric charged particles (species) generated in the radiolysis. In this way, this simulation helps to predict the different consequences in different radiolysis environments and conditions. Author: Patricio Jara

Parallel Actor Simulation of Water Radiolysis

The maximum entropy method (MEM) is a well known deconvolution technique in radio-interferometry. This method solves a non-linear optimization problem with an entropy regularization term. Other heuristics such as CLEAN are faster but highly user dependent. Nevertheless, MEM has the following advantages: it is unsupervised, it has an statistical basis, it has a better resolution and better image quality under certain conditions. This work presents a high performance GPU version of non-gridded MEM, which is tested using interferometric and simulated […]

Multi-GPU maximum entropy image synthesis for radio astronomy

From Sebastian Vizcay's work, Juan Pablo Verdejo took the results from the Monte Carlo simulation to visualize them. Here is a video where the results can be watched. The results use colored arrows to represent the magnetization vector. To assign a certain color to certain arrow, the premise is that an external magnetic field is being applied toward an axis. Therefore, initially all vectors will have the same magnitude, sense and direction. In that moment, the magnitude is maximal. Then, […]
